Evaluation of training in industrial insulation

how learner feedback improves the quality and effectiveness of learning

In the industrial insulation industry, it is not enough to train well - you still need to know how the course was received by the participants and whether it actually prepared them for work in the market. Training evaluation is a process that allows us to continuously improve our programmes, methodology and learning atmosphere. At Natalux, we have been paying great attention to it for years, because we know that every course is not only about knowledge, but also about experience, which the trainee takes with them to projects all over Europe.

Why is evaluation so important?

  • Quality guarantee - course evaluations confirm that the programme meets real market needs.
  • Continuous development of the trainers - feedback gives clues as to what to improve in classroom methods.
  • Improved learner performance - participant feedback allows exercises to be modified to be more practical.
  • Credibility for employers - companies can see that we are training based on a proven methodology and monitoring outcomes.

What evaluation methods do we use at Natalux?

  1. Post-course surveys - questions about the content level, atmosphere, organisation and practical usefulness of the training.
  2. Open questions - learners can share feedback on what they found most valuable and what is worth improving.
  3. Feedback about the conditions - assessment of the hall, tools, materials and even... meals, which are an important element of comfort for many trainees.
  4. One-to-one interviews - coaches and organisers gather feedback directly.
  5. Long-term evaluation - after a few months, we ask learners and employers how the course has translated into work in practice.

What do we analyse in the evaluation results?

  • Average ratings (on a scale of 1-5 and NPS - Net Promoter Score).
  • Percentage of examinations and certifications passed.
  • The number of returning students (i.e. those who sign up for further courses).
  • Quality reviews on Google and social media.
  • Conclusions and corrective actions - e.g. additional exercises, new training materials, schedule modifications.

Kolb model in evaluation

Our courses are based on the Kolb cycle of adult learning:

  1. Experience - the trainee learns by doing (workshop, practice).
  2. Reflection - reflects on what he has done well and what can be improved.
  3. Conclusions - learns lessons and builds its own schemes.
  4. Application - transfers knowledge and skills to a real project.

Evaluation checks whether this cycle is working - whether students really feel that the knowledge is practical and useful.

Examples of activities after the Natalux course evaluation

  • Adding more workshop hours for the installation of protective coats.
  • Introduction of inspector simulations with checklists.
  • Expanding the module to include isolation economics and ROI counting.
  • Introduction of an online feedback option after several months of working abroad.

Training evaluation is not a formality, but the heart of our work. It ensures that Natalux courses are constantly being improved, and that trainees and employers are reassured that attending a training course is a real investment in the future. Feedback from learners and employers is as important to us as industry standards and certifications - it is what shows that our methodology works.
