What is the KFS and who can benefit

key information for employers”

The National Training Fund (KFS) is one of the most easily accessible sources of funding for training for employers in Poland. Under a separate part of the Labour Fund, district labour offices offer support to companies that want to improve the qualifications of their employees or their own - especially in a changing economy.

Key facts about the KFS

  • KFS is a separate part of the Labour Fund and is used to finance lifelong learning for employees and employers
  • The aim of this mechanism is to prevent people from losing their jobs due to a skills mismatch with market requirements.
  • Any employer who employs at least one employee under an employment contract can apply for KFS funds.
  • For micro-enterprises (with up to 10 employees), it is possible to subsidise up to 100% of training costs
  • For larger companies, the typical level of funding is 80% of training costs, with a 20% own contribution.
  • There is a limit to the maximum amount of funding: it cannot exceed 300% of the average salary in a given year per trainee.

What can the KFS funds be used for?

  • Professional and technical courses and training (such as insulator training).
  • Examinations, certifications and entitlements related to training.
  • Costs necessary to participate in the training: e.g. medical examinations required for the job, training materials, examination fees
  • Some offices also subsidise part of the costs involved in organising training (e.g. logistics) - depending on local regulations. (This depends on the PEO)
